Synopsis
The steep lines in the Telluride backcountry will challenge a skier; the terrain might take their life. But when the conditions come together and a rider is flying through the chute on the Hairy Banana or executing a flawless hard-rail turn on the San Joaquin couloir, there are few more fulfilling moments in a big mountain skiers’ lifetime – which is why Seth Morrison and backcountry-newbee Jacob Wester risked injury and ego to test their mettle. Oakley’s “Surviving Telluride” is a short film about one of Colorado’s most unique ski towns. Tucked in the San Juan Mountains, the small town of Telluride has gone from mining booms to being a jet-set destination–but after over a century, the love for the mountains hasn’t changed one bit.

Surviving Telluride – Director Bio
Constantine Papanicolaou grew up in New Jersey and graduated from the University of California Berkeley with a degree in Applied Mathematics. Subsequently, during his time at Berkeley he became interested in film and video production. Subsequently he produced and directed his first ski film, titled “Butter”. After that he spent a decade producing and directing action sports films for companies such as Oakley, Red Bull and ESPN.
